Go shopping instead: Around the time of the Summer of Love, there was a band called the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, which featured a very good guitarist Mike Bloomfield. People might say that they were just another of the “can the blue men play the whites” crew (thank you, Viv Stanshall, for that little quote), but they took the blues to places where it hadn't been before, especially with their more experimental works, such as East-West.
Here is my interpretation of one of their classic songs. My old blue jeans:ZZ Top have always been a favourite of Hamsters guitarist Barrie Martin and he often plays whole sets of their repertoire. I am a little more restrained here, but this is a classic, to which I hope I've done justice! I loved another woman:Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac used to enjoy playing the Cricketers Inn in the mid-to-late sixties, before Peter and Danny Kirwan became acid-casualties. Of the English Blues bands, I think these got the closest to the feel of the Chicago style of playing. Here's my tribute to both Peter and BB.
