Kitchen of Knives: The lyric to this song was supplied by Charlene Matthews (? - if she's still married to Matthews the Aussie). As a point of interest, Paul Shuttleworth thought that this was the best song on G2.
The Pilgrim Ghost There is a novel by Greil Marcus called something like this. In the late eighties, my brothers had an option of turning this book into a film. It would, probably, have been a very good film! This song was written as an attempt at a tile song for the movie.
Trinity Assurance Company: As you might have guessed by my lyrics, I don't hold with deals of any kind struck with any sort of “Creator of the Universe” - there has been far too many wars instigated at the behest of religious leaders and sold to gullible disciples as “Holy Wars” in which one can forget all the waggle about it being wrong to kill humans and the reward for fighting will be “heavenly paradise”. Quite convenient for them, when it suits their political purposes! Their lies don't even end there! They have the poor suckers by the short-and-curlies to fund their quite-comfortable lifestyles.
House-husband Blues This is meant to be a humorous song about the role reversal situation experienced by some men when their partners are able to earn more money than they are. Who knows whether the events here are actually occurring in homes around the country? I bet they are, though!
Straight down the line My friend Derek Faulkner was attempting to get a TV show commisioned by one of the TV companies, and asked me to write a theme song for it. Set in the Toon, it featured a number of Likely Lads, but, unforetunately for him (and me), no interest was shown. The trailer for the show has been re-dubbed with the original vocal and is posted on the video page.
